This Seattle Art Museum exhibition, which runs from June 14 to September 9, 2018, presents a comprehensive collection of Edward S. Curtis's magnificent portraits of Native Americans. Photographed during the turn of the last century, they now have an indelible place in the American consciousness, especially the works from the Pacific Northwest where he started his career. This lecture will explore his life and work, and the key Northwest tribes he portrayed. Sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library in partnership with the Mercer Island Historical Society.
